Heavy Trash Day Update

Residents of Harris County MUD 489: Due to the extreme weather event this past weekend, HCMUD 489 is contracting additional trucks with Republic Services for heavy trash day this Wednesday.

As a reminder, The following items will be picked up during heavy trash day:

  • Household Appliances – Refrigerators must have Freon drained and be tagged accordingly by a certified technician.
  • Hot water heaters must be drained.
  • Live Christmas trees. Ornaments, tinsel, and lights to be removed.
  • Furniture. Mattresses.
  • Grills must be emptied of ash or briquettes. No propane tanks.
  • Packing Peanuts
  • Packing peanuts won’t be collected loose - must be bagged. Drivers will not clean up packing peanut spills.
  • Yard Waste
  • Brush and tree trimmings cut in lengths not to exceed 4 feet, no greater than 2 inches in diameter, securely tied in bundles, not to exceed 35 lbs. All grass clippings, and leaves must be bagged.
